Trade restrictions prevent Chinese chipmakers from securing ASML lithography gear

Western export controls have blocked Chinese semiconductor manufacturers from purchasing extreme ultraviolet lithography machinery from Dutch manufacturer ASML. Consequently, domestic producers are forced to rely on older deep ultraviolet equipment and complicated multipatterning workflows to fabricate advanced processors.
