Space agency deploys repurposed spy satellite for cosmic mapping
NASA launched a four billion dollar space observatory designed to map billions of galaxies and research dark energy. Originally built as a military surveillance satellite, the telescope was later transferred and converted for astronomical research. Its wide field optics allow it to survey deep space significantly faster than older orbital telescopes.
