Perplexity released Portable Computer, an agentic application designed to perform computer control tasks entirely on desktop hardware. The application launches on specialized desktop servers powered by open models to ensure data privacy without using cloud processing credits. When encountering tasks beyond local capabilities, the agent can hand off complex steps to external APIs.
