Hardware company M5Stack has released a commercial version of StackChan, a small animated robot designed to sit on a desk. Priced at $99, the device was created in collaboration with independent developers. It pairs a small screen that renders cartoon facial expressions with a motorized base, dual microphones, a speaker, and a camera, allowing it to physically turn toward people and react visually during conversations.

This development offers a lively alternative to static smart speakers by giving artificial intelligence physical presence and body language. Because the hardware relies on accessible programming tools, owners can customize its behaviors or connect the companion directly into existing smart home setups. It brings motorized robotics into a budget friendly price range usually reserved for standard tabletop speakers.
