EMO Bot

Robotics company LivingAI has launched EMO, a small desk robot designed to function as an interactive companion. According to the company, the device combines dedicated neural processing hardware with internal sensors to move around workspaces independently, recognize up to ten faces, and react to voice commands. It relies on a custom system to display hundreds of physical movements and facial animations that simulate human like moods.

Beyond acting like a digital pet, the miniature bot incorporates voice assistants to assist with everyday routines. LivingAI reports that the device can answer common questions, check the weather, set alarms, and control basic smart lights. The unit also recharges on a wireless pad that can simultaneously power up a user's mobile phone, attempting to mix entertainment with genuine workspace utility.

While personal desktop robotics have historically struggled to maintain user interest, blending physical presence with smart conversational tools could make interactions feel significantly more natural. Still, it remains to be seen whether privacy conscious users will accept a constant camera and microphone presence on their desks, or if the companion's practical benefits outweigh the potential distraction.
