Bland AI has launched a flat rate monthly service aimed at giving automated software agents their own phone lines. For roughly thirty dollars a month, an artificial intelligence assistant can receive a local phone number to place calls and handle text messages across North America. The setup process connects the system directly to its line after a human approves the subscription in a web browser.

This service pushes digital assistants beyond standard text prompts into real world phone interactions. Instead of staying on hold to check an appointment or make a restaurant reservation, people can assign those chores to a virtual assistant that handles phone calls on their behalf. A flat monthly subscription rather than per minute billing also makes operating voice enabled agents far more predictable for users.

According to Bland AI's official product page, the plan limits activity to one call at a time and includes daily caps on voice usage. What remains unclear is how the public and call recipients will distinguish these helpful software callers from unwanted telemarketing robocalls. As automated voice agents become more widespread on public networks, telecom carriers might need new protocols to prevent legitimate assistant calls from being flagged as spam.
