Crucially, the open source designs require shoppers to manually finish checkouts and demand explicit human approval before store managers apply back office updates. This structure aims to protect financial details while giving retailers a ready made foundation for conversational tools.

However, it remains uncertain how easily small merchants can connect these tools to legacy retail systems without dedicated engineering resources.
