Aina Opens Preorders for Wearable Ring to Command AI Software

A hardware startup called Aina has launched preorders for a high-tech ring designed to give users physical control over artificial intelligence tools and personal electronics. Priced at 399 dollars for early buyers, the wearable packs a tiny screen, a directional joystick, a microphone, and a speaker directly onto a finger. The company intends to begin shipping the hardware in early 2027, after which the standard retail price will rise to 499 dollars.

Unlike traditional fitness rings that simply gather health metrics in the background, this device aims to streamline how people interact with digital assistants and computer software. As reported by TechCrunch, users can speak commands, dictate notes, handle phone calls, adjust home entertainment gear, and navigate menus using miniature physical controls. Aina founder Apoorv Shankar told TechCrunch that existing screens were designed for an era of manually opening apps, whereas working with proactive digital agents requires a brand new interface.

The announcement comes amid a wider push across the tech sector to build specialized hardware that makes multi-tasking with software assistants easier. While power users may appreciate having quick input options on their hand, convincing ordinary consumers to buy and charge another accessory remains a tough challenge. It is also unclear whether adding small displays and joysticks to rings can offer a better daily experience than established smartwatches, or if these niche wearables will struggle to reach mainstream audiences.
