Study Finds Synthetic Text on One-Third of Recently Published Web Pages

Pew Research analyzed half a million online documents to measure how much recent web content relies on machine generation. The findings show that roughly a third of material posted since late 2022 contains AI markers, driven heavily by commercial platforms. Educational and government sites showed almost no automated writing.
