Siftly

An open source developer named viperrcrypto has released Siftly, a desktop tool designed to organize saved posts from Twitter and X. The application downloads bookmarks directly to a user's computer and uses artificial intelligence to analyze text, extract relevant topics, and identify details within attached photos and videos. Instead of forcing users to scroll through long lists, it arranges saved items into an interactive mind map.

For researchers and everyday social media users, bookmarked posts often become disorganized and easily forgotten. Siftly aims to solve this problem while emphasizing user privacy, keeping all stored media and personal archives on the user's local drive rather than a remote cloud server. The software only connects to outside services when making calls to artificial intelligence models like Anthropic's Claude to generate tags and categories.

While local organizing tools are appealing to privacy-minded creators, it remains unclear how smoothly Siftly will operate if social media platforms alter their data export structures. Furthermore, processing thousands of image-heavy bookmarks through external vision models could result in unexpected API fees for heavy users. This leaves an open question as to whether social media networks will eventually build similar AI curation features directly into their platforms, reducing the need for independent tools.
