The developers of OpenClaw have released version 2.0 of their open source software for building automated personal AI assistants. According to a post on the project's official blog, the new update overhauls the setup process, introduces a redesigned browser interface, and adds collaborative features. Users can now link the software directly to existing subscriptions like ChatGPT or Claude, making setup faster by letting people configure settings through simple chat prompts rather than tedious menus.

This shift makes custom automation far more accessible to non technical users. Instead of needing coding expertise to automate repetitive chores, like monitoring an email inbox for school notices or searching through messages for purchase receipts, everyday users can instruct the digital assistant in plain language. Additionally, the new shared session capability enables family members or colleagues to collaborate on tasks without losing track of what the assistant has already learned.

Despite these usability improvements, running automated assistants across personal email, messaging apps, and work accounts raises significant privacy and security questions.
