OpenAI announced an update to its conversational software that lets people perform office tasks using spoken commands. According to a post published on X by OpenAI, the updated voice assistant can connect to external services such as email, calendars, and Slack. The company stated that the feature is backed by advanced underlying models, allowing users to build spreadsheets, slide decks, and websites simply by talking to their device.

This shift makes spoken computer interfaces far more practical for everyday work. Instead of typing out instructions or clicking through multiple menus, professionals can delegate multi step admin duties while on the go. If the system operates smoothly, hands free control could reduce the time spent managing schedules and drafting routine business documents.

However, it is still uncertain how accurately the assistant will execute sensitive commands in noisy real world environments. Giving a voice interface permission to interact with corporate communication tools raises privacy and reliability concerns.
