Google unveils Pics tool for AI photo editing and collaboration

Google announced a new visual editing workspace called Google Pics, designed to make graphic creation and photo modification simpler for everyday software users. According to the company's official blog post, the system lets people generate fresh artwork using text prompts or adjust existing photos with fine controls. Users can isolate specific objects within a scene, alter text embedded inside graphics, and translate words appearing directly on an image.

This update embeds sophisticated picture editing tools straight into everyday office programs like Google Docs, Slides, and Drive, eliminating the hassle of exporting files to external design software. The system also supports real-time teamwork, allowing multiple users to edit and refine the same visual project together. For non-designers creating marketing materials or presentations, this significantly reduces the technical barrier to producing clean graphics.

Google stated that access is currently limited to enterprise clients and paid subscribers on premium AI tiers. It remains unclear if free account holders will ever receive a lightweight version of these editing tools.
