Google introduces new image generator and efficient reasoning model

Google has officially unveiled Google Pics, an artificial intelligence tool built directly into its Workspace software suite that allows users to create and refine images. According to promotional materials published by Google, the tool lets people generate customized visuals and perform fine-grained edits inside everyday office applications. Alongside this visual creator, Google introduced Gemini 3.8 Flash, an efficient artificial intelligence model engineered to process complex reasoning tasks rapidly with lower computing overhead.

For office workers, educators, and creators, having an image editor embedded directly where they draft documents means fewer interruptions to their daily tasks. Instead of jumping to external design programs, users can adjust visual details or rewrite text elements directly within their slides and documents. The launch of a faster, cheaper reasoning model also suggests that software providers are working to make automated assistant features cheaper and more responsive for everyday users.

As Google noted on its website, Google Pics is rolling out gradually across select service tiers, leaving it unclear how soon standard accounts will gain access.
