Anthropic combines Claude chat and co-work features into a single view

Anthropic has redesigned its Claude software to simplify how people interact with its various AI tools, according to a report from TechCrunch. Instead of requiring users to click between standard conversation windows, design workspaces, and collaborative project tabs, the platform now brings these distinct functions into a single view.

The updated layout automatically handles different types of requests behind the scenes. For instance, if a user asks for assistance with building a document or creating a slideshow, the assistant routes the prompt to the appropriate tool without requiring any manual tab switching. Users can also export generated slide decks as PowerPoint files, share live document links, and review ongoing work on their smartphones.

TechCrunch noted that these updates are debuting for subscribers on Claude's paid individual and high tier plans across desktop and mobile devices. Anthropic plans to bring the unified workspace to team members and free users at a later date.

Unifying multiple specialized assistant modes into one interface reflects a broader push to reduce friction for casual workers who find multi-tab AI platforms overwhelming. It remains to be seen, however, if users will prefer automated routing or if they will miss having explicit, manual control over which specialized model mode handles their confidential work files.
